100th Anniversary for Mercy Medical Center New Hampton; commemorative book available soon

New Hampton, Iowa – The Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton is celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. Local writer and historian, Juanita Andersen, is doing her part in recognizing this milestone.

Andersen is writing a commemorative book that contains interviews with dozens of current and former employees. Jenny Moneith, Public Relations at Mercy, says Andersen was able to get many great stories and capture the history of Mercy.

The book will have to be pre-ordered by the due date of June 27th.

Mercy will also be celebrating by having a church service and butterfly release in remembrance of loved ones on August 5th. The event will be held at New Hampton and Runion Park at 5:30. If it rains, the celebration will be at St. Joe’s gym.

A free meal and the Miles Adams Band will follow at 9 pm. Registration for this event is due by June 19th.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki and a daughter Brynlee.
