Charles City, Iowa – Search and rescue operations got a little assist recently when the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency purchased a drone.
The drone will come with a thermal camera attached to it so searching at night is now an option. The total cost after training will be $8,801. Some complications have arisen in the purchasing process as there is a little confusion as to where the money should come from.
The purchase will ultimately have to be cleared through the Emergency Management Commission. Howard County will be training with Floyd County and the two sides will split the training cost.
