Charles City, Iowa – With the overnight stay for RAGBRAI in Charles City just a little over two weeks away, the Charles City RAGBRAI committee has some important updates to share.
Tom Bock, who is on the executive committee, talked about street closures that will take place beginning in the early morning hours on July 26th.
The parking lots in the 100 and 200 blocks of Main Street will also be closed.
Bock said there will be limited parking in the lots behind the east side of Main Street.
The Main Stage for entertainment will be placd in the intersection of Jackson and Kelly Streets, and additional activities will occupy Riverside Drive. The beverage garden will be located in the alley behind the 200 block of Main Street, specifically behind Radio Shack.
Several businesses have already announced closures on the day of July 26th, including Central Park Dentistry, The Optometric Center, the offices of Larry Pump CPA and Floyd County Mutual Insurance. TLC is also closed on July 26th, and will have a late opening start of 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 27th. Due to camping at Washington School, Y’s Guys will be closed on both Wednesday, July 26th and Thursday, July 27th. Residents are encouraged to check with area businesses for closures before venturing out and about.
Host homes are still needed for the overnight stay. Housing committee member Cheryl Herb said they are looking for the final push for homes needed for people wishing for a cool spot to sleep.
