Want to be a volunteer firefighter? Your chance is coming Monday

Charles City, Iowa – The Charles City Fire Department is currently looking for volunteers to join the fire fighter force. There are currently nine open positions.

Charles City Fire Chief, Eric Whipple, says there will be an open agility test on August 14th.

Whipple says that this is a rewarding but tough position. The test takes ten minutes of your day and will check to see how the volunteer handles ladder carrying, body carrying, simulated ax work, and more. An oral interview will follow.

Following this, the volunteers are required to take a class.

The department is accepting both male and female candidates, but they must be 18 years or older.

Walk ins are accepted for the agility test, but if you are interested in becoming a fire fighter, visit the station in Charles City.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
