Charles City, Iowa – Application forms for preschool scholarships are now available in the Floyd, Mitchell, and Chickasaw area. Families with children ages three to five may contact participating preschools in the three-county area.
The scholarships originate from Iowa’s Early Childhood School Ready Grant. These are designed to help students be ready to enter school.
The grant funds have assisted hundreds of preschoolers since their introduction. The 2017-2018 school year marks the 18th season scholarships have been available to qualifying children.
Families interested in applying for a scholarship may obtain application forms from any of the participating preschools in Floyd, Mitchell, or Chickasaw Counties. Students must attend a preschool in one of those three counties to be eligible.
Charles City preschools include Central Preschool, Immaculate Conception Preschool, and St. John Christian Preschool. In Nora Springs, Wee Soar Preschool, in the Central Springs Community School District is included. In Mitchell County, Growing Tree Preschool in Osage is a participating preschool.
Chickasaw County preschools include The Learning Center New Hampton Community District and St. Joseph Sunrise Preschool, along with Fun in the Son Preschool in Fredericksburg.
Interested families may contact the preschool of their choice for applications.
Award announcements will be made in late September. The scholarships run September through May, 2018, providing funding continues from the originating state grant. The FMC ECI preschool scholarship program is administered through the FMC ECI area board of directors and coordinated by Laurie Kristiansen.
