Two Iowans Go Assist with Wildfires in Canada

Charles City, Iowa 0 Wildfires have blazed through British Columbia this summer putting thousands of people out of their houses. Two Iowa residents with Red Cross will be going up to help assist with the people affected.

Stu Coulson of Charles City will be heading to Williams Lake, British Columbia for two to three weeks to work with the disaster mental health team.

The other Iowan to go assist is Maurice Evans of Sioux City. He will be sent to Price George, British Columbia and will work as a mass care volunteer. This is his second deployment for wildfires in Canada. Evans was sent to Alberta, Canada last year to help with wildfires.

2.2 million acres have been burned in these fires and over 45,000 people have been displaced. 6,000 more people still have orders to evacuate.
