Charles City Comets

The Charles City Comet girls and boys cross country teams hosted a co-ed meet yesterday at the Wildwood Golf Course.  Head Comet girls cross country coach Amanda Rahmiller fills us in on how the Comet girls did.

The Comet girls and boys cross country teams will compete again on Tuesday in Waverly.

The Nashua-Plainfield volleyball team was swept last night in Top of Iowa Conference action at Mason City Newman.  The Huskies lost three close ones by scores of 25-24, 25-22 and 25-19.  Nashua volleyball falls to 2-2 overall on the season and they are now 2-1 in conference matches.  Next up for them will be a home match against Central Springs on Tuesday.

The Osage Green Devil volleyball team took care of Saint Ansgar last night in Top of Iowa Conference play in Saint Ansgar.  The Green Devils won three games to none by scores of 25-12, 25-12 and 25-16.  The second ranked Osage volleyball team improves to 3-0 overall and in conference play while Saint Ansgar falls to 1-2 and 0-2.  Osage won’t have another match until next Thursday at home against North Butler, but Saint Ansgar will play tomorrow in a tournament hosted by New Hampton.

The North Butler Bearcat volleyball team was in Manly last night for a Top of Iowa Conference match against Central Springs.  The Bearcats fell in three straight by scores of 25-17, 25-11 and 25-19.  North Butler volleyball falls to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in conference action.  They will play again Tuesday night at home against Central Springs.

Tonight is week 2 of the Iowa High School football season, here is where our area teams will be.  The Charles City Comet football team will have their home opener tonight as they get set to welcome in Osage.  Both teams come in with 0-1 records.  You can tune into this game right here on KCHA starting with a pre-game at 7pm with kickoff scheduled for 7:30.

The Nashua-Plainfield football team will wrap up their non-district schedule tonight with a home game against Hudson.  Both teams were winners in their opening week game and come in at 1-0.  Kickoff for this one will be at 7pm.

The North Butler Bearcat football team will host GMG Garwin tonight.  The Bearcats are 1-0 this season while GMG comes in at 0-1.  Kickoff for this one will also be at 7pm.

The Rockford Warrior football team will have their second road game in as many weeks as they will travel to North Union tonight.  The Warriors enter the game at 0-1 while North Union is also 0-1.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.

The Saint Ansgar Saints football team will be in Calmar tonight for their game as they will take on South Winneshiek.  The Saints are 1-0 while South Winn is 0-1.  Kickoff for this one will be at 7:30.
