New Hampton to Nicaragua, Rotary Helps Kids in Need

New Hampton, Iowa – The New Hampton Rotary Club has been putting on a shoe box program over the last couple of weeks. It will come to an end on September 8 as all of the filled boxes will be ready to ship down to kids in need.

New Hampton and Waterloo Rotary clubs came together last week together to fill 5,000 shoe boxes for these people. With each box came a list and it was labeled male or female. The box was then filled with clothes, school supplies or games.

Once the box is returned, it gets ready to ship. Sue Kolbet, with New Hampton Rotary, says what happens after the boxes are packed.

The Rotary Club has reached enough households to help and is out of boxes.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
