With no local sports on the schedule last night, we begin today’s report with a look at the area sports calendar for tonight.  The Charles City Comet girls and boys cross country teams will be in Cedar Falls tonight for some good competition.  There will be over twenty schools competing in the races which will take place at Birdsall Park.  The first races of the day are set to start at 4:30.

The North Butler Bearcat girls and boys cross country teams will head to Ventura tonight for a meet hosted by Clear Lake.  About a dozen schools will be represented at this meet which will be held the Baptist Camp.  The meet will begin at 4:15.

Iowa State coach Matt Campbell Is confident the Cyclones will bounce back with a good effort this week. After a heart breaking loss to Iowa the Cyclones prepare for their first road test when they visit Akron.

Campbell says the Cyclones bounced back with a good practice on Sunday.

Former Auburn coach Terry Bowden is in his sixth season at Akron. The Zips are 1-1 after a lopsided win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Campbell says the Cyclones showed progress in the loss to Iowa.

Cyclones quarterback Jacob Park has been sacked once in two games. Campbell says that is  a result of Park’s decision making and improved play from the offensive line.
