KCHA Sports Report (9/15)

The Charles City Comet girls and boys cross country teams were in Cedar Falls last night for a co-ed meet at Birdsall Park.  This was a tough meet as there were over twenty schools represented.  As always, the Comet runners were competitive and head Comet girls cross country coach Amanda Rahmiller talks about how her team did last night.

Charles City’s runners will next race on Tuesday in Mason City.

It is week four of the Iowa High School Football Season and the following is a look at where our area teams play tonight.  The Charles City Comet football team will be at home tonight looking for their first District win of the season.  That task will be tough though as top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier comes to town.  The Comets are 1-2 overall this season and they are 0-1 in District play while Xavier is 3-0 and 1-0.  You can tune into this game right here on KCHA starting with a pre-game at 7pm with kickoff scheduled for 7:30.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky football team will be at home tonight for a District match-up with Rockford.  The Huskies are 1-2 overall this season and they are 0-1 in District play while the Warriors come in at 0-3 and 0-1.  Kickoff for this one is scheduled for 7pm.

The Osage Green Devil football team will travel to Clear Lake for a District game against the Lions.  The Green Devils have an overall record of 1-2 and they are 1-0 in District play.  Clear Lake is 2-1 overall this season and they too enter this game with a 1-0 District record.  You can tune into this game on our sister station 987 KISS Country starting with a pre-game at about 7:15 and kickoff will be around 7:30.

The North Butler Bearcat football team will be forfeiting their game tonight against Saint Ansgar.  According to North Butler’s Superintendant, the Bearcats had only 14 healthy players for tonight’s game and they felt that they did not have enough players for a High School Varsity football game.  Saint Ansgar will move to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in District play while North Butler falls to 2-2 and 0-2.
