In a game heard right here on KCHA Friday night, the Charles City Comet football team hosted top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier in Class 3A District 3 play.  Xavier showed why they are ranked first early in the game as they took a 21-0 lead just six minutes into the game.  The Saints did not slow down from their as they built a 43-0 lead at halftime.  The Comet defense responded well in the second half and gave up just seven points, but the offense could not find the end zone and lost the game 50-0.  The loss Friday night dropped the Comets’ overall record to 1-3 on the season and they fall to 0-2 in District play.  They will be at home this Friday night for their Homecoming game against Independence.

The Nashua-Plainfield football team hosted the Rockford Warriors on Friday night in a Class A District 3 game.  The Huskies were dominant as they rolled to a 52-0 victory.  Nashua quarterback Dayton Hansen completed 16 of 18 passes for 192 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Mason Hyde and John Krull.  Tristan Brase ran for 128 yards and three touchdowns, Luke Bucknell had a rushing touchdown, and Hyde also had an interception return for a touchdown.  The Nashua football team is now 2-2 overall this season and they move to 1-1 in District play while Rockford falls to 0-4 and 0-2.  The Huskies will host North Butler this Friday night and Rockford will host Mason City Newman.

The Osage Green Devil football team was in Clear Lake on Friday night for a District match-up with the Lions.  Defense highlighted the first three quarters as it was ties 0-0 heading into the fourth.  Clear Lake was able to win the final quarter though as they were able to score two touchdowns to Osage’s one and took the game 16-6.  The Green Devils are now 1-3 overall this season and they fall to 1-1 in Class 2A District 2.  Osage will host Crestwood this Friday night.

The Saint Ansgar Saints football team picked up a win over North Butler on Friday night by way of forfeit.  The Bearcats had just 14 healthy bodies and it was determined that wasn’t enough for a Varsity football game.  The Saints are now 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Class A District 3 while North Butler falls to 2-2 and 0-2.  Saint Ansgar will host West Fork this Friday night and the Bearcats are hopeful that they will be able to take on Nashua in Nashua this week.
