KCHA Sports Report (9/20)

In a match heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet volleyball team hosted Crestwood in Northeast Iowa Conference play.  The Comets were able to sweep the Cadets three games to none by scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-15.  Jodie Sindlinger had 11 kills to lead Charles City, Tayler Schmidt had ten and Sami Heyer had eight.  Sydney Loeckle finished the night with 30 assists, Sadie Ruzicka led the team in digs with 13 and she also went 18 of 18 serving with four aces.  The Comet volleyball team is now 8-6 overall on the season and they are 3-0 in the NEIC.  They will be in action again Saturday at a tournament in Cedar Falls.

The Osage Green Devil volleyball team rolled in their Top of Iowa Conference match last night at home against West Fork.  The Green Devils won three games to none by scores of 25-13, 25-6 and 25-8.  Kelsey Havel led the Green Devils with 12 kills, Rylie Olson had 28 assists and went 21 of 21 serving with six aces and Kourtney Chambers had four ace serves.  The Osage volleyball team is now 9-6 overall this season and they stay perfect in conference play as they are now 6-0.  Their next match will be next Tuesday at Rockford.

The Saint Ansgar Saints volleyball team was at home last night as well in Top of Iowa Conference play against Rockford.  The Saints won all three games to pick up the win as scores went 25-9, 25-18 and 26-24.  Kristen Hemann had nine kills for the Saints, Tanyon Schutjer had 23 assists and was 28 for 28 in serves with four aces and Hannah Groth led Saint Ansgar with 25 digs.  The Saints improve to 5-8 overall this season and they move their league record to 3-2 while Rockford falls to 4-12 and 0-6.  Saint Ansgar volleyball will play again next Tuesday at Northwood-Kensett and the Warriors will take on Osage at home next Tuesday night.

The Charles City Comet girls and boys cross country teams were in Mason City last night for a co-ed meet at the NIACC Campus.  Head Comet girls cross country coach Amanda Rahmiller comments on the results for the Comet girls.
