Mason City, IA – The 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place next Saturday at Mason City High School with the goal of raising over $37,000 for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Registration is free and starts at 8:00 a.m., and the opening ceremony starts at 9:00 a.m.
The Walk to End Alzheimers is the biggest fundraiser put on by the Alzheimer’s Association, the nation’s largest nonprofit related to the disease. The Walk in Mason City helps to keep the programs and services in and around Cerro Gordo County free. Last year, the Walk broke its all-time fundraising record by bringing in over $31,000.
The walk will start at the high school and head north along a two-mile route. An optional half-mile extra loop will be provided. Prior to the start of the walk there will be food, music, blood pressure screenings and a silent auction. Businesses and individuals from around the county donated baskets, items, gift cards and more.
Currently, the walk has made nearly half of this year’s goal and is looking for both participants and volunteers for that Saturday. Participants may register as individuals or as a team for free at act.alz.org/masoncity. Those interested in volunteering may call Greg Woods at 515-206-2106 or email email@example.com.
