German Students Visit the US

Charles City, IA – German students traveled to the United States recently and they are currently spending a few nights in Charles City.

The group of students started their journey in Minneapolis where they visited the Mall of America multiple times. Charles City was their next stop as they are spending time at Charles City High School.

Sebastian Bleischwitz, advisor for these German students, says what he hopes his students take away from this trip.

He says that some of the big difference in the country’s school systems is technology. Students in Germany are not allowed to use their phone at all in the school and they don’t need laptops overseas. Bleischwitz also added that students are free to come and go when they don’t have class in Germany.

Marilyn Buttjer, Charles City High School employee, says that Charles City students can learn a lot from these students.

Dr. Dan Cox, school district’s superintendent, says that students should know multiple languages.

The students will travel to Chicago next and will leave the United States on Oct. 21.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
