In a game heard right here on KCHA Friday night, the Charles City Comet football team was on the road against Vinton-Shellsburg for a Class 3A District 3 contest.  The Comet football team was able to pick up their first District win of the season as they defeated the Vikings 36-20.  Sophomore defensive back Marcus Cranshaw got the Comets on the board as he returned an interception 52 yards for a score.  The Comets were able to control the game on the ground after that as they finished with 331 yards rushing as a team which came out to over 5.5 yards/carry.  Leading the rushing attack was Sophomore Mitz Concepcion who finished with 95 yards on the ground.  Senior quarterback Mike Cranshaw had 84 yards and two touchdowns rushing and also threw a 33 yard touchdown pass to Trey Walker.  Elliott Sinwell rounded out the scoring for the Comets with a 56 yard TD run.  With the win, Charles City football is now 2-4 on the season and 1-3 in the District.  They will return home this Friday night to take on Benton.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky football team made it three wins in a row on Friday night as they beat West Fork 26-12 in Class A District 3 play on the road.  Husky quarterback Dayton Hansen threw for 183 yards and had a touchdown pass to Levi Enright and John Krull.  Tristan Brase rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown and Mason Hyde had 80 yards on the ground and a touchdown for the Huskies.  Nashua football improves to 4-2 on the season overall and they move to 3-1 in the District.  They will play at home this Friday night against Grundy Center.

The Osage Green Devil football team picked up a win in Forest City on Friday night as they won the defensive battle 13-7.  The Green Devils finished with less than 200 yards of total offense, but were able to get two rushing touchdowns, one by Drew Olson and the other by Zach Williams to help them to the win.  Osage football evens up their overall record at 3-3 and they move to 3-1 in Class 2A District 2.  A road game at New Hampton awaits them this Friday night.

The North Butler Bearcat football team was able to take the field for the first time in three weeks and they made the most of it as they were able to defeat Rockford on the road 26-13.  The Bearcats used a two-headed rushing attack as Brandon Trees rushed for 180 yards and Rhett Lammers finished with 162 yards on the ground and they each found the end zone twice.  North Butler is now 3-3 overall this season and they move their Class A District 3 record to 1-3.  The Warriors remain winless at 0-6 and 0-4.  The Bearcats will play West Fork at home this Friday night while Rockford will play at West Hancock.

The Saint Ansgar Saints football team kept their perfect season in tact on Friday night as they defeated Grundy Center on the road in a Class A District 3 game 42-21.  The Saints attempted just two passes on the night as they let their rushing game carry them.  Josh Van Vliet ran for 183 yards and a touchdown, Dayton Smith rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns and Colin Kramer and Jack Sievert each had a rushing touchdown.  The other Saints score came on a 70 interception return by Smith.  The Saint Ansgar football team is now 6-0 overall and they move to 4-0 in the District.  They will play at home this Friday night against Mason City Newman.
