In a match heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet volleyball team was at home taking on Oelwein in a Northeast Iowa Conference match.  The Comets opened up the match with two wins as they beat Oelwein 25-11 and 25-20.  The Huskies came back and won game three 25-18, but the Comets put the match away with a 25-16 win in game four to take the match three games to one.  Tayler Schmidt led the Comets with 16 kills, Jodie Sindlinger had 11.  Sydney Loeckle had 37 assists and Sami Heyer had six ace serves.  With the win, Charles City volleyball improves to 15-10 overall this season and they move to 4-1 in the NEIC.  They will play again on Saturday in a tournament hosted by Hampton-Dumont.

The Osage Green Devil volleyball team had little trouble last night in their Top of Iowa Conference match with Northwood-Kensett.  The Green Devils swept past the Vikings three games to none by scores of 25-9, 25-7 and 25-13.  Kelsey Havel and Sydney Midlang each had twelve kills to lead Osage, Riley Olson had 34 assists and Sopia Muller was 18 of 18 serving with three aces.  The seventh-ranked Green Devils are now 16-7 overall this season and have now clinched the TIC East Division with an 8-0 record.  They will be in action again on Saturday in Mason City.

The North Butler Bearcat volleyball team hosted Rockford last night in Top of Iowa Conference action.  The Bearcats won the first two games by scores of 25-13 and 25-13, Rockford won the third game 26-24 and then won game four 25-21 and then the Warriors took the fifth and final game 15-9 to win the match three games to two.  Rockford improves to 5-13 overall this season and got their first conference win as they now sit at 1-7 while North Butler falls to 11-12 and 3-5.  The Warriors will play will host a quadrangular tomorrow night and the Bearcats will play again Saturday at North Iowa.

The Saint Ansgar Saints volleyball team was at home last night for a Top of Iowa Conference match against Mason City Newman Catholic.  The Saints breezed past the Knights three games to none by scores of 25-21, 25-17 and 25-10.  Saint Ansgar volleyball improves to 8-8 overall on the season and they are now 5-2 in league play.  They will play in the Mason City tournament on Saturday for their next action.

The Charles City Comet girls and boys cross country teams were in Dike last night for a co-ed meet at Fox Ridge Golf Course.  Head Comet girls cross country coach Amanda Rahmiller fills us in on how the Comet girls did.
