3D Mammography Ribbon Cutting and Stomp Out Breast Cancer River Walk – for Oct. 12th

Charles City, IA – Floyd County Medical Center is celebrating the fact that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month in a big way.

Yesterday, a ribbon cutting was held with the Charles City Chamber Ambassadors for the new 3D Mammography Machine that was recently installed in the radiology department at the hospital.

Radiology Director Wendy Burke talks about the features of this new technology.

Julie Hildebrand of Charles City was one of the first patients to experience the 3D mammogram.

Hildebrand said results will be shared quickly with the new techonology.

Today, a Stomp Out Breast Cancer River Walk event will be hosted by the Floyd County Medical Center Radiology Department, beginning at 6:00 p.m. this evening. The walk will begin at Riverside Park,  and will be approximately three miles.

Radiology technologist  Ashley Hinckle explains.

Proceeds from the River Walk will help promote breast cancer awareness and help raise money  for Floyd County Cancer Friends.
