KCHA Sports Report (10/13)

The Osage Green Devil volleyball team hosted a triangular meet last night to finish their regular season against Aplington-Parkersburg and Janesville.  In the first match of the night, the Green Devils defeated the Falcons two games to none by scores of 25-17 and 25-18.  In that match Kelsey Havel had 14 kills to lead Osage, Rylie Olson had 30 assists and Sydney Midland had three ace serves.  In the second match against top-ranked Janesville, the Wildcats won the first game 25-21, Osage won game two 25-21 and then Janesville took the third game 15-6 to win the match two games to one.  Havel again led Osage with 11 kills, Olson had 29 assists and Kourtney Chambers had seven digs.  Osage volleyball finishes their regular season with a record of 22-9 and will now focus their attention on the Regional Tournament where they will host Crestwood in a Class 3A Quarter-Final on Wednesday night.

The Rockford Warrior volleyball team was at home last night for a quadrangular meet.  In the first match, the Warriors defeated Turkey Valley two games to none by scores of 25-17 and 25-11.  They then beat Valley Lutheran of Cedar Falls two games to none as they won 25-2 and 25-5 and then won two games to none against Belmond-Klemme by scores of 25-16 and 25-23 to finish the night 3-0.  Those three wins gives the Rockford volleyball team a record of 9-13 and they will play again tomorrow in Garner.

The Saint Ansgar Saints volleyball team was able to close out their regular season with a victory last night at home over Riceville.  The Saints swept the Wildcats three games to none by scores of 25-6, 25-18 and 25-15 to improve to 9-12 this season.  The Saints will open up Regional play on Tuesday at home against West Fork.

Just two weeks remain in the Iowa High School regular football season, here is where our area teams will be tonight.  The Charles City Comet football team will travel to Decorah for a Class 3A District 3 contest.  The Comets are 2-5 overall this season and they have a District record of 1-4 while Decorah comes in at 5-2 and 3-2.  You can tune into this game right here on KCHA tonight starting with a pre-game at 7pm and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky football team will be in Mason City tonight for a Class A District 3 game against the Newman Knights.  The Huskies will look to keep their playoff hopes intact as they come in with an overall record of 5-2 and they are 4-1 in District play.  Mason City Newman comes in at 4-3 overall and they are 2-3 in the District.  Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 7pm.

The Osage Green Devil football team will be at home for the final time this season tonight when they take on Hampton-Dumont.  Osage still has a chance to qualify for the playoffs as they sit at 3-4 overall and they are 3-2 in Class 2A District 2 while the Bulldogs are 1-6 and 1-4 this season.  You can tune into this game on our sister station 987 KISS Country starting with a pre-game at about 7:15 and kickoff will be around 7:30.

The North Butler Bearcat football team will be at Grundy Center tonight for their Class A District 3 game this week.  The Bearcats are 3-4 overall and 1-4 in District play while Grundy Center is 2-3 and 3-4.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.

The Rockford Warrior football team will be looking for their first win tonight when they do battle in their Class A District 3 game against West Fork at home.  The Warriors are 0-7 this season overall and they have a District record of 0-5 while the War-Hawks come in at 2-5 and 1-4.  Kickoff for this game is also scheduled for 7pm.

The Saint Ansgar Saints football team looks to stay undefeated tonight as they get set for a huge game against West Hancock.  The Saints are ranked sixth in Class A and are 7-0 overall on the season and 5-0 in District 3.  West Hancock is 5-2 overall and they too are 5-0 in District play.  Kickoff for this one will be at 7pm as well.
