Charles City, IA – The Charles City Agriculture program has land out at the Floyd County Fair Grounds that helps students do projects to learn.
A few bee hives were put together last spring thanks to a grant from the National FFA. That money helped purchase and populate two hives along with purchasing four suits to help collect honey.
Students gathered to collect honey on Monday. They collected once last week and came away with two gallons of honey. Tanner Evans, Charles City High School junior, says what he thought of this experience.
Jim Lundberg, Charles City FFA’s director, says that even he didn’t know much about bees. The group is going at it with trial and error.
Evans says what he thought when he was handling the bees.
The honeycombs were brought back to the high school and the honey was collected today.
