The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union began their volleyball postseason tournament last night with Classes 1A and 2A having opening round matches. The Nashua-Plainfield Husky volleyball team hosted Postville in a Class 2A Region 6 opener. The Huskies were able to sweep their way into the Quarter-Finals as they won three games to none by scores of 25-10, 25-17 and 25-15. Nashua volleyball is now 12-19 overall this season and will play again on Monday night at South Winneshiek.
The Saint Ansgar Saints volleyball team was also in a Class 2A Region 6 opener last night at home as they took on West Fork. After dropping the first game 25-19, the Saints won the next three 25-21, 25-13 and 25-13 to advance. Jadyn Anderson had 15 kills for Saint Ansgar and Kristin Hemann had 13. Tanyon Schutjer had 39 assists for the Saints and went 29 of 29 serving with three aces. The Saint Ansgar volleyball team improves to 10-13 overall this season and they will play in the Regional Quarter-Finals on Monday at Lake Mills.
The North Butler Bearcat volleyball team hosted West Central Maynard last night in the opening round of the Class 1A Region 5 Tournament. The Bearcats lost the first game 25-21, but came back to win three straight by scores of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-13 to take the match three games to one. North Butler volleyball is now 16-16 overall this season and will play in the Region 5 Quarter-Finals on Monday night at Tripoli.
The Rockford Warrior volleyball team was also able to advance out of the first round of the Class 1A Region 5 Tournament by sweeping CAL three games to none in Rockford last night. The Warriors won by scores of 25-4, 25-13 and 25-13. Rockford was able to use their serving attack to pick up the win as they finished the night with 24 aces. The Warriors improve to 13-14 overall this season and they will play on Monday night in the Regional Quarter-Finals at North Iowa Buffalo Center.
The Osage Green Devil volleyball team will begin their postseason tonight as they get set to host Crestwood in the Quarter-Finals of the Class 3A Region 4 Tournament. The Green Devils come in with an overall record of 22-9 while the Cadets finished their season with a record of 14-19. First serve from Osage tonight will be at 7pm.
