Tree Project in Charles City

Charles City, IA – Trees were put up all around Charles City on Tuesday by different groups of volunteers.

Around 65 ash trees have been taken down in Charles City recently do to Ash Borers infecting the wood. Charles City Rotary, Charles City High School FFA students and the DNR all did their part in helping with this project.

Steve Diers, Charles City’s city administrator, says more about the project.

This is part of phase one as the next phase will happen in the spring. 65 trees in total were put up Tuesday.

Diers also talks about the recent garbage disposal contract that has been ongoing in Charles City.

The city will be moving to a wheeled tote system. Both a trash and recycling container are available. Garbage will be disposed of weekly with recycling being picked up biweekly.
