KCHA Sports Report (10/24)

The volleyball postseason continued last night with several area teams participating in the Class 1A and 2A Regional Quarter-Finals.  The Nashua-Plainfield Husky volleyball team was in Calmar last night for a Class 2A Region 6 Quarter-Final against South Winneshiek.  The first two games had to be extended as both teams looked to be evenly matched.  South Winn was able to squeak both of them out by a score of 26-24.  Then the Warriors were able to win the third game 25-18 to take the match three games to none.  Sydney Hansen led the Nashua offense with 11 assists, Britney Holthaus had 33 digs and as a team the Huskies went 65-68 serving with five aces.  Nashua-Plainfield volleyball finishes their 2017 season with a record of 12-20.

The Saint Ansgar Saints volleyball team saw their season come to a close last night as well as they were defeated by a good Lake Mills team in another Class 2A Region 6 Quarter-Final.  Saint Ansgar was swept three games to none by scores of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-11.  The Saints volleyball team ends their season with a record of 10-14.

The North Butler Bearcat volleyball team played in their final match of the season last night as they were defeated in a Class 1A Region 5 Quarter-Final by Tripoli on the road three games to none.  Scores went 25-22, 25-12 and 25-19.  The Bearcats conclude their 2017 campaign with an overall record of 16-17.

The Rockford Warrior volleyball team was in Buffalo Center last night for a Class 1A Region 5 Quarter-Final against North Iowa.  The Warriors were swept out of the postseason three games to none by scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-16.  Kayla Carroll had ten kills to lead Rockford, Ella Carroll had 12 assists and as a team the Warriors were 43-47 serving with two aces.  The Rockford volleyball team finished their season with a record of 13-15.

Classes 3A and 4A will hold Regional Semi-Final matches tonight.  The Charles City Comet volleyball team will be at home for a Class 4A Region 5 Semi-Final against Webster City.  The Comet volleyball team received a first round bye in the Regional Tournament and finished their regular season with a record of 24-14 while Webster City comes in with a record of 9-25.  You can tune into this match right here on KCHA starting with a pre-meet at 6:45 and first serve will be at 7pm.

The Osage Green Devil volleyball team will host a Class 3A Region 4 Semi-Final tonight as they will welcome in Clear Lake.  The Green Devil volleyball team comes in with a record of 23-9 while the Lions are 6-26.  First serve for this match will also be at 7pm.
