Cerro Gordo County Man Found Unresponsive in Prison

Anamosa, IA – An inmate who was spending 15 years in the Anamosa State Penitentiary was found unresponsive on Monday night.

31-year-old Michael Waddington of Mason City was involved in an altercation where he was assaulted around 5:45 p.m. The person responsible was Claude Breese who was serving time for drug charges.

Waddington was taken to the regional medical center before being taken to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Officials say that he has sustained serious injuries.

The Mason City man was in the maximum security prison for crimes he committed in 2012. He was convicted on burglary and domestic abuse charges.
