Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz has had success against every Big Ten opponent but Ohio State remains an exception. Ferentz coached Iowa teams have beaten the Buckeyes only once and the teams meet for the first time in four years Saturday in Kinnick Stadium.
Ferentz says since he was first an assistant at Iowa in the early 80’s the Buckeyes have consistently had great talent and great coaching.
After coming up short in an upset bid against Penn State the Hawkeyes get another chance for a signature win.
Ferentz says it will take the right mindset and a great effort by the Hawkeyes.
Iowa’s physical style has allowed the Hawkeyes to win three of their last four home games against top five opponents but Ferentz says the Buckeyes have the talent to run teams out of their own stadium.
Ferentz says the Iowa offense needs to elimintate the mistakes and penalties that have stalled drives in recent weeks.
Ferentz has made no secret of his disdain for alternate uniforms but in recent years has relented and allowed his team to wear them once a year. He was asked about his reaction to the uniform the Hawkeyes will wear on Saturday.
