Crop Field Day to be Held in Floyd

Floyd, IA – A few organizations will be joining forces to bring a crop field day to Floyd County on Nov. 16.

The groups that are making this day possible are the Iowa Learning Farms, Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. The hosts will be Ben and Andy Johnson who own and operate a farm a few miles north of Floyd. The brothers grow soy beans and corn along with managing an ewe flock and feeder lamb operation.

Attendees will have the chance to learn how labor availability and profitability played into the adoption of reduced tillage practices on their farm. Matt Helmers, professor at ISU, will also talk about what research has been done for the Conservation Learning Lab Project.

The event is open and free to the public, but it is recommended that people interested reserve a spot. To do that, call Liz Juchems at 515-294-5429. The farm is located at 1170 Highway 218, north of Floyd. The farm is on the east side of the road.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
