Charles City, Iowa – It’s Election Day and a few communities will be voting on a new mayor along with city council members.
For Charles City, residents will be voting on a new mayor to replace outgoing mayor Jim Erb, who decided not to seek re-election earlier this year. Dean Andrews along with Matt Lovik will be on the ballot for the mayor race. For Charles City City Council, two seats are available and incumbents DeLaine Freeseman and Gerald Joerger will be seeking re-election to those seats.
Other contested races around the area include the Marble Rock City Council where three seats are up for grabs with incumbents J.R. Ackley, Gary L. Schmidt and Todd Schriever seeking re-election. They are joined by Beverly Fisher, Kaylah Schweizer and Steven Wells.
The Rockford City Council has three open seats as well with incumbents Vernon Arndt, Michael J. Smith and Jason Stokes seeking re-election and being joined on the ballot with N. Bruce Inman, Derek Johnson, Diane Marker and Daniel Paulus.
The Rudd City Council has two seats open and on the ballot today will be Jeffrey C. Buland, Mike Rachut, Matthew A. Bouillon and Tyler Scheer.
In New Hampton, city council incumbents running unopposed include Scott Perkins and Bruce Diiro but there is a contested race for the at-large seat with Jeremiah Cantu and Matt Kuhn on the ballot to replace Jill Eike, who currently holds the seat and is not seeking re-election.
In Nashua, two people are running for mayor including Butch Betsinger and Robert Maravetz. There’s also seven people running for 2 open city council seats as well. Incumbents Tom Johnson and Rolland Cagley are seeking re-election and they are joined by Scott Cerwinske, Harold Kelleher III, Dave Lentz, Terry McGinnis and Kristin Nosbisch.
Polls will be open from noon to 8pm tonight.
