Basketball With Dark Background On A Wood Gym Floor

The Saint Ansgar Saints football team played at the UNI Dome on Friday against Hudson in a Class A State Semi-Final game.  For the second year in a row, the Saints were unable to advance to the State Title game as they were beaten by the Pirates 41-17.  Dayton Smith had 105 rushing yards in the loss, Josh Van Vliet had 91 yards on the ground and a touchdown and Jack Sievert had the Saints other touchdown which was a 23-yard rushing score.  Jack Mendoza rounded out the scoring for Saint Ansgar with a 25 yard field goal.  The Saints finish their season with a record of 11-1.

The weather is changing and the winter sports teams are gearing up for their 2017 and 2018 seasons.  The girls basketball teams began their practices last Monday and boys basketball and wrestling will begin practices today.  The first games for the Charles City Comet girls basketball team will be a week from tomorrow at Clear Lake and you can tune into that game right here on KCHA.  The Comet wrestling team will open up their season on November 28th with a double dual at New Hampton and the Comet boys basketball team will have their first game on the 28th as well at home against Dike-New Hartford.

The Nashua-Plainfield girls basketball team will have a home game to kick-off their season on November 21st as they will host Tripoli.  The Husky wrestlers and boys basketball team will have their first action on November 28th when the grapplers will travel to Oelwein for a quadrangular meet and the boys basketball team will have a Top of Iowa Conference contest at Rockford.

The Osage Green Devil girls and boys basketball teams will open their seasons up together with a Top of Iowa Conference girl/boy double-header at Mason City Newman Catholic on November 28th.  The Green Devil wrestling team will have their first meet on November 30th when they head to Central Springs for a quadrangular meet.

The North Butler Bearcat girls and boys basketball teams will have their first competition on November 28th when they visit Northwood-Kensett for a girl/boy Top of Iowa Conference double-header.  The North Butler-Clarksville wrestling team will have their first meet together on November 30th as they will head to Mason City for a triangular meet hosted by Newman.

The Rockford Warrior girls and boys basketball teams will have their first games on November 27th when they visit Clarksville for a non-conference girl/boy double-header.  The  Warrior wrestlers will compete in that quadrangular hosted by Central Springs on November 30th for their first action.

The Saint Ansgar Saints girls basketball team will play in their first game of the season on November 21st when they hit the road to take on Riceville.  The first game for the Saint Ansgar boys basketball team will be on November 28th at Central Springs.  The Saint wrestlers will see their first competition on November 30th when they will participate in a triangular meet hosted by West Fork.
