UPDATE – Decorah Man Faces Livestock Neglect Charge

Winneshiek Count, IA – A Decorah man who has been charged with neglecting his livestock has pled not guilty to that charge.

51-year-old Craig Underbakke was arrested on Oct. 3 after the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office found 24 dead calves and 20 malnourished calves on his farm. He has been charged with livestock neglect and seven counts of failure to dispose of a dead animal.

The sheriff’s office received a call and reported to the 2500 block of County Road A18 near Decorah. Underbakke now has a trial date set for Jan. 4.
