Mason City Murder Case from 2016 Sees Progress

Mason City, IA – A murder that took place in Mason City last December has made progress towards getting the trial started.

Larry Whaley is charged with the murder of 19-year-old Samantha Teeter, but claimed that he was not competent enough to stand a trial. He met with doctors at the Medical and Classification Center, but they ultimately determined that he was fine to stand trial.

Whaley was then asked if he would keep his current attorney or demand a new one. He is sticking with his current lawyer, but only under certain conditions. He believes that evidence was tampered with and destroyed.

Dec. 18 was tossed around as a possible trial date, but nothing has been officially set.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
