Chickasaw County, IA – Thanksgiving is a busy time for roadways all across the United States. Families will travel to be with family and friends on this day. The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Public Safety are doing their part in keeping the roadways safe.
These two groups are reminding people to wear their seat belts while traveling for this upcoming week. The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department will be monitoring how many drivers are wearing their seat belts this weekend as part of the STEP Project.
Deputy, Jason Rosol, says more about this seatbelt survey.
With this survey taking place, more law enforcement officers will be watching the roads over this time period.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, over 300 people died in car accidents over Thanksgiving in 2015. 50% of the people killed were not wearing a seatbelt. Click-it this weekend to have a safe holiday season.
