CCPD Responds to Wrecks

Charles City, IA – A pair of accidents took place in Charles City on Wednesday and Thursday of last week.

The first accident happened at the intersection of 8th Ave. and B St. on Wednesday when a car driven by 17-year-old Bethann Flood backed up in the street and struck another vehicle. The other car was a GMC that was driven by 67-year-old Helen Blackburn. She was traveling southbound on B St. when she was hit. Flood was cited for unsafe backing, which is a simple misdemeanor. No one was injured in the wreck, but $4,500 in damages was reported.

The Charles City Police Department investigated a single vehicle accident on Thursday. The wreck happened on 8th Ave. and L St. 18-year-old Samantha Tynan of Charles City was traveling southbound when she rolled her car on 8th Ave. and L St. Authorities determined that she was driving too fast for road conditions when she rolled her car. Tynan has been cited for failure to reduce speed to a reasonable and proper rate. This citation is a simple misdemeanor.
