In a game heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet boys basketball team was in Clear Lake for a non-conference game against the Lions. The Comet boys started the game a bit slow as they were trailing 17-14 after the first quarter, but really turned it on in the second quarter and at one point went on a 14-0 run to take the lead. They would never let that lead diminish as they controlled the game in the second half and came away with a 75-64 win. Jackson Molstead led Charles City with 24 points and Mike Cranshaw and Noah Schlader each had 14 in the win. The Comet boys basketball team is now 2-1 overall this season and they will return to action Friday night when they open up Northeast Iowa Conference play at home against Crestwood.
The Charles City Comet girls basketball team will be looking for their first win of the season tonight when they open up their Northeast Iowa Conference season at New Hampton. The Comet girls are 0-3 overall this season while New Hampton’s girls come in at 1-2. The Nashua-Plainfield girls and boys basketball teams will hit the road tonight for a Top of Iowa Conference double-header against Mason City Newman. Nashua’s girls are 0-4 overall this season and they are 2-0 in the conference while the Knight girls are 2-2 and 1-1. The Husky boys come into tonight’s game with a record of 2-1 overall and they are 1-1 in conference games while the Newman boys are 0-3 and 0-2. The girls game will be played first at 6:15 and the boys game will follow.
The Osage Green Devil girls and boys basketball teams will be in Saint Ansgar tonight for a Top of Iowa Conference double-header against the Saints. The Green Devil girls will look to stay perfect as they are 3-0 overall this season and 2-0 in league play while the Saint Ansgar girls come in at 1-1 and 0-1. The Osage boys are 2-1 overall this season and the Saint boys are 1-0 both overall and in the Top of Iowa Conference. The girls game is scheduled to tip-off at 6:15 and the boys game will get started at about 7:30.

The Bearcat girls come in at 2-1 overall this season and they have a conference record of 1-1; the Central Springs girls are 3-1 and 1-1. The North Butler boys come into tonight’s match-up undefeated as they are 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference while the Panther boys are winless at 0-4 and 0-2. Tip-off for the girls game will be at around 6:15 with the boys game to follow.
