Scoring the winning points at a basketball game

In a game heard right here on KCHA last night, The Iowa State Cyclone Men’s basketball team hosted the Iowa Hawkeyes at Hilton Coliseum.  They Cyclones’ perimeter play took over in the second half as the they outscored Iowa 48-37 in an 84-78 win. Freshman Lyndell Wiggington scored a game high 24 points as the Cyclones erased a five point halftime deficit.

It was Iowa State’s sixth straight win as the Cyclones improve to 6-2.

The Charles City Comet boys basketball team will open up Northeast Iowa Conference play tonight at home against the Crestwood Cadets.  The Comet boys are 2-1 overall this season and Crestwood comes in with an overall record of 2-0.  Tip-off for the Varsity game is scheduled for 7:30.

The Charles City Comet girls basketball team will be on the road tonight for their Northeast Iowa Conference match-up with Crestwood.  The Comet girls are looking for their first win of the season as they sit at 0-4 overall and they are 0-1 in the NEIC.  The Cadet girls come in at 4-0 and 1-0.  This game will also have a Varsity start time at about 7:30.

The North Butler Bearcat girls and boys basketball teams will host Saint Ansgar tonight in a Top of Iowa Conference double-header.  The Bearcat girls are 2-2 overall this season and they are 1-2 in conference games while the Saint Ansgar girls are 1-2 and 0-2.  The North Butler boys enter tonight’s game undefeated as they are 4-0 overall and are 3-0 in league play while the Saint boys are 1-1 both overall and in the conference.  The girls game will tip-off first at about 6:15 and the boys game will follow.

The Rockford Warrior girls and boys basketball teams will play host to Northwood-Kensett tonight in Top of Iowa Conference action.  The Rockford girls are 1-2 overall this season and they come in at 1-1 in conference games while the Viking girls are 1-4 and 1-2.  The Warrior boys are a perfect 3-0 overall this season and they are 2-0 in the conference while the Northwood boys are 0-4 and 0-3.  The girls game will tip-off at about 6:15 and the boys game will get started at about 7:30.
