“Mob Mile”

Charles City, IA – The Floyd County Board of Supervisors held their regular meeting on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. One of the topics on the agenda was about an organization using the courtroom and courthouse property for an event. The board members would approve.

A “Mob Mile” will be held in Charles City on Jan. 13. This is being put on by the Road Runners Club of America. This will be a mile long race. The purpose of this day is to remember the last time there was a lynching in Iowa.

A speaker will also be available in the courtroom on this day to talk about the history behind this.

The hope is to have the Mob Mile run happen every year. The proceeds from this run will go to the Charles City High School cross country teams. The race will start in the courthouse’s parking lot.

The board members approved of this use.
