Road Temporarily Rerouted after Gas Leak

Mason City, IA – A gas leak on Monday resulted in emergency crews responding to the scene and a portion of a road to be shut down.

The leak took place at the intersection of Highway 122 and Taft Ave. Traffic was rerouted until the leak was repaired by city and Alliant Energy workers. The Mason City Fire Department was called for safety precautions.

The pipeline is owned by Northern Natural Gas. However, no customers were affected by this do to work done in previous years.

Mason City firefighters, Mason City Police, Alliant Energy workers and city workers all responded to the leak.
