Charles City, Iowa – Floyd County Sheriff deputies were busy over the long holiday weekend dealing with crashes which could have potentially been avoided.

The first accident occurred in the 1400 block of Foothill Avenue at 3:23am on Monday. A vehicle lost control and rolled. A male subject was transported to Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa by Nora Springs Ambulance for minor injuries. Rudd Fire Department assisted at that crash scene.

The second accident occurred at the intersection of the Avenue of the Saints and Highway 218 near Floyd. A westbound vehicle was attempting to turn north into Floyd and slid into a southbound semi which was stopped at the stop sign. A female was transported by AMR Ambulance to Floyd County Medical Center for minor injuries. The Floyd Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Deputies say both vehicles were traveling too fast for road conditions. They remind you to take it slow and allow extra time to reach your destination.
