NYE Arrests in Mason City

Mason City, IA – New Year’s Eve was a busy night for police all over Iowa. Two Mason City men were arrested for alcohol related incidents.

43-year-old Natanael Coplin of Mason City was taken into custody after he brought a bottle of Captain Morgan into Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa. He had been discharged earlier in the day. It was reported that Coplin was homeless and wind chills that night reached -25. He refused a sobriety test, and has entered a not guilty plea to his public intoxication charge. Coplin’s trial date is set for Jan. 25 in Cerro Gordo County District Court.

The second incident was a drunk driving arrest. 41-year-old John Shannon of Mason City was pulled over in the 900 block of South Pennsylvania Ave. He was driving with a blood alcohol content level of .145 and the officer reports that he had bloodshot eyes. Shannon was charged with operating while intoxicated. His court date is Jan. 22.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
