Baby Dies at In-Home Day Care

Manly, IA – A baby girl died at an in-home daycare on Dec.28 in Manly. She was only 7-months-old.

The day care is at the address of Jeremy and Carrie Lohman, 131 South Grant St. The day care is not registered according to the Iowa Department of Human Services. The DHS also says that any day care with five or less kids does not need to be registered.

Emergency crews received a call that the child was not breathing. First responders did CPR on the baby before taking her to the Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. She was later pronounced dead there.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Department of Human Services are still investigating.

No charges have been filed.
