Scoring the winning points at a basketball game

In a game heard right here on KCHA last night the Charles City Comet girls basketball team was at home for a non-conference match-up with Iowa Falls-Alden.  The Charles City girls were unable to get that first win of the season as they were beaten by a final score of 66-31.  The Comet girls basketball team is now 0-10 overall this season and they will be back in action tonight in Northeast Iowa Conference action at home against New Hampton.  Tip-off for this game will be at about 6:15.

The Osage Green Devil girls and boys basketball teams were in Hampton last night for a girl/boy double-header against the Bulldogs.  In the girls game, Osage took control of the game early, led it 40-18 at halftime and then coasted to a 57-31 win.  Gabby Schwarting had 18 points to lead the Green Devils and Rylie Olson had 12.  The Osage girls stay perfect on the season as they are now 11-0 overall.  In the boys game, Hampton-Dumont had the fast start and led it 15-11 after the first quarter, but the Osage boys settled in and took control of the game early in the second half in route to a 64-47 win.  Drew Olson led the Green Devils with 21 points and Brett Bobinet had 12 points as the Osage boys improve to 8-2 on the season.  Both the Green Devil boys and girls will be back in action tonight at home against Mason City Newman.

The Charles City Comet boys basketball team will be at home tonight for a Northeast Iowa Conference match-up with New Hampton.  The Comet boys come in winners of their last eight games and they are 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the NEIC.  The Chickasaws are 6-5 overall and 1-4 in conference games.  You can tune into this game right here on KCHA starting with a pregame at 7:15 and tip-off is scheduled for 7:30.

The Nashua-Plainfield girls and boys basketball teams will be at home tonight for a Top of Iowa Conference double-header against Rockford.  The Nashua girls are 1-11 overall this season and they are 0-8 in the conference while the Warrior girls are 2-10 and 2-7.  The Husky boys come into tonight’s game with an overall record of 6-5 and they are 4-4 in the conference while the Rockford boys are 9-3 and 6-2.  The girls game will tip-off at about 6:15 and the boys game will follow.

The North Butler Bearcat girls and boys basketball teams will be at home tonight for their Top of Iowa Conference games against Northwood-Kensett.  The Bearcat girls are 6-4 overall and they are 4-4 in league play while the Northwood girls are 1-9 and 1-8.  The North Butler boys come in at 4-5 overall and they are 3-5 in TIC games while the Viking boys are 1-8 and 1-7.  The girls game will tip-off first at about 6:15 and the boys game will get started at about 7:30.

The Saint Ansgar Saints girls and boys basketball teams will be in Top of Iowa Conference action tonight at home against Central Springs.  The Saints girls are 6-6 overall and 3-5 in the conference while the Central Springs girls are 10-1 and 7-1.  The Saint Ansgar boys are 6-4 overall and have a conference record of 4-4 while the Panther boys are 0-11 and 0-8.  The girls game is scheduled to start at 6:15 with the boys game to follow.
