Gary Hedrick, 74, Charles City

Gary Hedrick, 74, of Charles City, passed away January 9, 2018 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home with Pastor Russ Leeper of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be an hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Gary Dean Hedrick, the son of Gerald Dean Hedrick and Gertrude May Knowlen, was born June 6, 1943 in Cerro Gordo County. Gary attended school in Charles City and graduated from Charles City High School. Gary married Nancy Jean Kilby at their home in Charles City on August 29, 2001.

Gary was in the Navy, a member of the V.F.W. in Charles City and worked for White Farm. He was a jack of all trades. He loved to go fishing, camping, ceramics and pottery, play card games (especially euchre and solitaire), play darts and pool.

Living family members include his children: Milton (Liza) Hedrick, Denise (Louie) Guillory, and Derek Hedrick; stepchildren: Carrie (Rod Hinz) Bahlmann, Troy (Trisha King) Bahlmann, and Melissa (Ken) Weeks; along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Gertrude; sister, Nola Vosburgh; nephews: La Vern Vosburgh and David Vosburgh; cousin, Jim Witherspoon; and wife Nancy Kilby.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be directed to Derek Hedrick at 90 Highland Avenue Dumont, Iowa 50625.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
