Man Sentenced for Injuring Baby

Charles City, IA – A man who had caused serious injuries to a baby in Charles City has received his sentencing.

19-year-old Nathan Jacobson of Boone had caused bruising, subdural bleeding, retinal bleeding and altered a 2-month-old’s mental state after a night in October of 2016. He has now been sentenced to up to five years in prison. The time he has already served will be credited.

The baby was his girlfriend’s at the time. He had originally been charged with child endangerment causing serious injury, but he pleaded down to child endangerment causing bodily injury.

Many letters were sent to the Floyd County District Court standing up for Jacobson’s character. They also say that he didn’t intentionally mean to hurt the baby. An appeal has been field by Jacobson.
