Limit Your Pet’s Outside Time in the Winter

Charles City, IA – North Iowa is in the middle of winter. Temperatures are frigid with snow and ice on the ground. The Charles City Police Department took three separate calls on Thursday concerning pet’s well-being.

The first call came from the 500 block of North Illinois St. Officers received this call around 6:45 p.m. A dog had been left outside in the cold for a long time, but was left inside by the time the CCPD arrived. The residents were informed about leaving their pets outside in the winter and what the consequences could be.

Two similar calls were called in from different parts of town on this day. The second call came from the 300 block of 3rd Ave at 7:19 p.m. with the final call coming from the 1300 block of Missouri Ave. at 7:58 p.m.

All pets should not be let outside in the winter months for long periods of time. If you see an animal that needs assistance, call the Charles City Police Department.
