Nashua man killed after train hits road grader

New Hampton, Iowa – A Nashua man is dead after the road grader he was operating was hit by a Canadian Pacific train.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that 64-year-old David P. Zwanziger was northbound on Jasper Avenue near B57 (220th Street) in a 1999 Caterpillar grader plowing snow when he was struck on the passenger side by a westbound Canadian Pacific train. The accident was reported at 7:45am on Friday.
The crash is still under investigation.
Assisting at the scene was the Iowa State Patrol, New Hampton Fire Department Rescue Squad and the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office.
