In a game heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet boys basketball team hosted Waverly-Shell Rock in a battle of the top two teams in the Northeast Iowa Conference.  The game lived up to its hype as each team hit some big shots throughout, but in the end it was the Go-Hawks winning the game 62-57.  Jack Molstead led the Charles City with 21 points as the Comets fall to 16-3 overall and they suffer their first NEIC loss as their conference record falls to 10-1.  The Charles City boys will be back in action tomorrow night at home against Iowa Falls-Alden.

The Charles City Comet girls basketball team was in Waverly last night for their Northeast Iowa Conference game against the Go-Hawks.  The Comet girls were unable to keep pace with Waverly as they dropped the game by a final score of 72-27.  The Comet girls fall to 0-19 overall this season and their conference record is now 0-11.  The Comet girls will wrap-up their regular season on Friday at Decorah.

The Charles City Comet wrestling team was in New Hampton last night competing in a Class 2A Regional Dual.  The top-ranked Chickasaws knocked the Comets out in the Semi-Finals by winning the dual 54-27.  The Comet grapplers finish their dual season with a 6-18 mark.  Seven Comet wrestlers will compete at the District Tournament on Saturday in Parkersburg.

The Top of Iowa Conference held its cross-over games last night as the East Division was put up against a team from the West Division based on the conference standings.  The Nashua-Plainfield girls basketball team was in Buffalo Center for a match-up with the Bison.  The Nashua girls fell on the losing end of a 54-33 score.  The Huskies finish their regular season with a record of 2-19 and their next game will be in the Regional Tournament as their opening round game in the Class 2A Tournament will be on Saturday at Denver.

The Nashua-Plainfield boys basketball team was on the road at West Hancock last night.  The Husky boys lost on a last minute layup as they were defeated 66-65.  Dayton Hanson led the Huskies with 20 points as they fall to 9-11 overall this season.  They will finish their regular season tomorrow night at home against Tripoli.

The Osage Green Devil girls basketball team finished off their perfect regular season last night as they were able to beat a one-loss North Union team 64-53.  The Green Devil girls finish up at 21-0 this season and their attention will now focus on the Class 3A Regional Tournament.

The Osage Green Devil boys basketball team traveled all the way to Algona last night to take on Bishop Garrigan.  The Green Devil boys were upended by a final score of 84-75.  Drew Olson finished the night with 30 points as the Osage boys complete their regular season with a record of 13-8.  The next game for them will be in a Class 2A District Quarter-Final on Monday at home against Central Springs.

The North Butler Bearcat boys basketball team lost their cross-over game last night at North Iowa Buffalo Center 50-23.  The Bearcat boys drop to 8-12 overall this season and will wrap-up their regular season tomorrow night at Hampton-Dumont.

The Rockford Warrior boys basketball team was in Garner last night for the cross-over game between the top two teams in each division.  The Cardinals got the better of the Warriors last night as they beat Rockford by a final score of 74-44.  Zach Bushbaum had 11 points to lead Rockford as they fall to 16-5 this season.  The Warrior boys will now look to the Class 1A District Tournament.
