Charles City, IA – A Chicago man was arrested early last week for a drug charge in Charles City. His initial charge was a state charge, but he will now be facing a federal charge.
22-year-old Lashawn Stewart was arrested on Jan. 28 after he had sold heroin to an undercover law official earlier in the month. He had been charged with a controlled substance violation which has since been dismissed. Stewart will now be facing a distribution of heroin charge and will be prosecuted in the Cedar Rapids Federal Court.
The sales had taken place over multiple years. Authorities say that he was bringing more heroin back from Chicago.
