KCHA Sports Report (2/8)

The Charles City Comet boys basketball team will be at home tonight for a non-conference match-up with Iowa Falls-Alden.  The Comet boys come in with an overall record of 16-3 while the Cadets are 7-11.  You can tune into this game right here on KCHA starting with a pre-game at about 7:15 and tip-off is scheduled for 7:30.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union will begin its basketball postseason tonight with Class 1A holding its opening round games.  The North Butler Bearcat girls basketball team will host Rockford tonight in the Class 1A Region 2 opener.  The Bearcat girls come in with an overall record of 10-9 while the Warrior girls are 5-16.  North Butler won both of the regular season match-ups between the two teams, but both games were within five points.  Tip-off from Greene tonight with be at 7pm.

The Saint Ansgar Saints boys basketball team will wrap-up their regular season tonight with a non-conference home game against CAL Latimer.  The Saint Ansgar boys are 11-9 overall this season while CAL comes in with an overall record of 0-19.  Tip-off for the Varsity game is scheduled for 7:30.

In a game heard right here on KCHA last night, the Iowa State Cyclone Men’s Basketball Team was in a Big 12 match-up at Texas Tech.  Iowa State’s lack of depth showed late as the Cyclones ran out of gas in a 76-58 loss to the seventh ranked Red Raiders. Cam Lard scored 22 points on 10-of-11 shooting but it was not enough as the Cyclones fell to 3-8 in the Big 12.

Iowa State coach Steve Prohm who was pleased with the effort.

Lindell Wigginton added 13 points as the Cyclones drop to 12-11 overall.  They will return to the court on Saturday when they host Oklahoma at Hilton Coliseum.
