KCHA Sports Report (2/13)

The Osage Green Devil boys basketball team was at home last night for the opening round of the Class 2A District 5 postseason as they welcomed in Central Springs.  The Green Devil boys were able to win every quarter and walked away with a 67-43 win.  Drew Olson led four Osage players in double figures with 22 points, Brett Bobinet had 13 and Lucas Schwamman and Colin Klapperich each scored ten points.  The Green Devil boys improve to 14-8 overall this season and advance to the District Quarter-Finals in which they will play Garner-Hayfield-Ventura on Thursday night in Forest City.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union will hold bowling State Qualifying Meets all over the state today.  The Charles City Comet girls and boys bowling teams will be in Decorah at Oneota Lanes looking to make it to State.  The Comets will be competing against Decorah, Denver, North Fayette Valley, Sumner-Fredericksburg, Tripoli and Waukon.  The competition will begin at noon and you can tune into live updates of these meets right here on KCHA with a pre-meet at about 11:50.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union will continue its basketball postseason tonight with Classes 1A and 2A holding Regional Quarter-Final match-ups.  The Nashua-Plainfield Husky girls basketball team will be in Jesup tonight for their Class 2A Region 3 Quarter-Final.  The Nashua girls come in with an overall record of 3-19 this season and Jesup is 12-9.  Tip-off for this game will be at 7pm.

The North Butler Bearcat girls basketball team will be at home tonight for their postseason game against Mason City Newman.  The Bearcat girls are 11-9 overall this season while the Newman girls are 12-10.  These two teams split their two regular season games this year with each of them winning the home game.  This Class 1A Region 2 Quarter-Final will tip-off at 7pm.

The Saint Ansgar Saints girls basketball team will be in Manly tonight for their Class 2A Region 3 Quarter-Final against Central Springs.  The Saint Ansgar girls come into the game with an overall record of 13-9 while the Panther girls are 16-5.  The Saints went 1-1 against Central Springs during the regular season as they lost 47-44 in Manly on November 28th and then beat the Panthers 48-43 in Saint Ansgar on January 9th.  This game will also begin at 7pm.
