KCHA Sports Report (2/19)

The Iowa High School Athletic Association wrapped up its 2018 State Wrestling Tournament on Saturday with the medal rounds for all classes and you heard all of the coverage right here on KCHA.  The Charles City Comet grapplers were able to get two athletes on the medal stand as junior Dylan Koresh placed seventh at 152 pounds and sophomore Jack Sindlinger finished in eighth place at 170 pounds.  Nashua-Plainfield had two place-winners as well with senior Brock Dietz earning a sixth place finish at 106 pounds and sophomore Jakob Whitinger placed fourth at 113 pounds.  Senior Brandon Trees of North Butler finished with a seventh place medal at 170 pounds and Cameron Rasing of Rockford placed fourth at 160 pounds.  Congratulations to all of these area wrestlers on a great season.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union is winding down its Regional Basketball Tournaments.  The Osage Green Devil girls basketball team was in Independence on Saturday looking to advance to the State Tournament as they took on Monticello.  The Green Devil girls started the game strong and took a 15-8 lead after the first quarter, but it would be all Monticello after that as they gave Osage their first and only loss of the season by defeating them 59-33.  The Green Devil girls finish their season with a record of 23-1.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and Iowa High School Athletic Association will hold its Class 1A State Bowling Tournament today at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo.  The Charles City Comet boys and girls will both be competing today.  The meet is set to begin at 10am and KCHA will have live updates for you throughout the day beginning with a pre-meet at about 9:45.

The Charles City Comet boys basketball team will begin its postseason tonight with a Class 3A Substate 2 Quarter-Final against Iowa Falls-Alden.  The Comet boys come in with an overall record of 16-4 while the Cadets of Iowa Falls are 8-12 this season.  You can tune into this game right here on KCHA beginning with a pre-game at around 7:15 and tip-off is scheduled for 7:30.
