In a game heard right here on KCHA last night, the Charles City Comet boys basketball team hosted Webster City in a Class 3A Sub-State 2 Semi-Final. The Comets and Lynx traded blows in the first half and at halftime Webster City held a four point advantage. Charles City would then put it all together to outscore the Lynx 21-9 in the third quarter and went on to win 65-58. Jack Molstead led three Comets in double-figures as he finished with 20 points, Mike Cranshaw scored 17 and Noah Schlader finished with 11 points. The Charles City boys basketball team improved to 18-5 overall this season and will now play in the Sub-State Final on Monday night. The Comets will head to Denver to take on Waverly-Shell Rock with a trip to the State Tournament on the line.
Talking some Women’s college basketball now. There is no talk of title clinching or winning streaks as the Drake women get set to host Bradley tonight. The Bulldogs are 14-0 in the Valley and with a win would clinch at least a share of their second straight league crown. Bulldog coach Jennie Baranczyk says the focus remains on improvement for the stretch run.
The Bulldogs take a 36-game Missouri Valley Conference into the game.
