In a game heard right here on KCHA on Saturday, the Iowa State Cyclone Men’s Basketball team played a Big 12 game at West Virginia.  The Cyclone men fell behind by nine at halftime and were unable to recover as they lost by a final score of 85-70.  Lindell Wiggington had 29 points for Iowa State as they fall to 13-15 overall this season and they are now 4-12 in the Conference.  The Cyclones will play again tomorrow night at home against Oklahoma State.

In a game heard on our sister station 951 The Bull yesterday, the Iowa Hawkeye Men’s Basketball team hosted Northwestern in a Big Ten match-up.  The Hawks came out on fire and built a 17 point lead at halftime and they were able to hang on to win 77-70.  Jordan Bohannon led Iowa with 25 points as the Hawkeyes improve to 13-18 overall this season and they end their conference season at 4-14.  Iowa will now shift their focus to the Big Ten Tournament which will begin on Wednesday.  The Hawkeyes are the 12 seed in the tournament and will have their first game at Madison Square Garden against the 13 seed Fighting Illini of Illinois.

The University of Northern Iowa Panther Men’s Basketball team met up with Missouri State at home on Saturday.  The Panthers were able to even up their record with a 71-56 win over the Bears.  Klint Carlson led UNI with 16 points as they are now 15-15 overall this season and are 7-11 in the Missouri Valley Conference.  The Panthers will open up the Conference tournament on Thursday night when they take on Evansville in the eight vs. nine match-up in Saint Louis.

Now on to some high school basketball news now, the Charles City Comet boys basketball team will be in Denver tonight for a Class 3A Sub-State 2 Final against Waverly-Shell Rock.  The Comet boys are 18-4 overall this season and they will take on a Go-Hawk squad who is 17-6.  These two teams split during the regular season as Charles City won in Waverly 65-61 on January 2nd and the Go-Hawks won the meeting in Charles City 61-57 on February 6th.  A trip to the State Tournament is on the line and you can tune into this game right here on KCHA starting with a pre-game at about 6:30 and tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
